Arch recently provided an overview to Rotary Club of Prospect members of the Peace Poles project. Our club has purchased 2 and they are being allocated to Prospect North Primary School and a park selected by the City of Prospect.
The Rotary Peace Pole program is an initiative of Rotary International that aims to promote peace and international understanding through the installation of Peace Poles around the world. A Peace Pole is a monument that displays the message “May Peace Prevail on Earth” in multiple languages, typically between 4 to 8 languages.
The idea behind the Peace Pole is that it serves as a reminder to people everywhere to strive for peace and understanding in their daily lives. The Rotary Peace Pole program began in 1985 and has since grown to include tens of thousands of Peace Poles installed in over 180 countries. Rotary clubs and other organizations can sponsor the installation of a Peace Pole in their communities, and the program has been successful in promoting peace, goodwill, and cultural understanding throughout the world.
