Friday 24 October 2024 was World Polio Day, when we are reminded of the devastating impact that this disease can have on children. It’s a day when we raise funds and awareness so that more children don’t experience the paralysing effects of polio.
Every drop of vaccine counts, and every donation brings us closer to ensuring that no child ever suffers from polio again. In communities that are hardest to reach, those drops carry protection and hope. In April, Rotary members joined local vaccinators in Pakistan, visiting homes, health centres, and even railway platforms to reach every child. They took part in a campaign that aimed to protect 45 million children, supported by 400,000 workers across the country. This is the kind of work our support makes possible, reaching children in areas where health care is limited and the challenges are greatest.
Our club’s donation of $1,000 has been forwarded to The Rotary Foundation for the PolioPlus Fund to continue working to reach every child, in every community, until polio is eradicated.
Thank you for your support.
