July Update

Welcome to the latest news from the Rotary Club of Prospect! As we embrace the Rotary theme for July, Maternal and Child Health Month, we are looking forward to a special presentation and gearing up for an exciting second half of the year with new initiatives and strong community engagement.

Our next meeting on Wednesday, July 30th, will feature a talk from eminent Obstetrician, Professor John Svigos AM, titled “Bali beckons me and you”. This is a particularly relevant topic for July’s theme, and we look forward to hearing about his experiences providing voluntary medical services.

The club is also excited to announce that we are trialling a new meeting format for the next three months, designed to boost participation and keep all members informed about our projects. Under this new structure, our first meeting of the month (on the second Wednesday) will be dedicated to committee meetings, followed by reports from the President and committee chairs. The second meeting (on the fourth Wednesday) will feature an invited guest speaker. For months that have a “fifth” Wednesday, member John Castle will be organising a social night for members and partners.

Our club continues to be an active presence in the wider Rotary community. President Suren Krishnan recently attended the Rotary District 9510 Community Group 1 meeting and the Adelaide City Rotaract Changeover event. We also want to extend our support to neighbouring clubs. The Rotary Club of Lightsview is holding its annual Quiz Night on Saturday, August 23rd , and the next “cuppa and chat” for our community group will be on Saturday, August 16th.

Looking ahead, the theme for August is Membership & New Club Development Month , and we are planning to induct new members at our August 27th meeting. Keep an eye out for details of our next Bunnings BBQ fundraiser, which will be announced at our meeting on July 30th.

The Rotary Club of Prospect meets on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month at the Lord Melbourne Hotel in North Adelaide, from 6:00 pm for a 6:15 pm start. We are always looking for new members who want to make a difference in the community. If you’d like to join us, please get in touch!
