Celebrating Schinella’s

As one of our Club’s valued sponsors, Joe Schinella was invited along to
our last meeting to tell us a little about his local business enterprise.
It all started in the 1940’s with Uncle Sam’s store, (The Fruit Palace) in
Broken Hill. The family business flourished and Joe (senior) and his
brothers grew up working in their father’s store (The South Fruit Market)
also in Broken Hill.

In 1985 the Schinella’s migrated to Adelaide and brought with them
generations of knowledge, a strong work ethic and a love of fresh food.
They joined two other families, Tony and Mark Capobianco and Frank and
Mick Labbozzetta, to create the Adelaide Fresh Fruiterers.

Family has inspired the Schinella brothers to go back to where they began
and it’s at the heart of their new brand — Schinella’s, Your Local Market.
Joe is now semi-retired and his sons now run this very successful business.
President Doug was delighted to recognise Joe for his support of our club
for his service to the Prospect community. Doug presented Joe with a PHF
as recognition of our club’s donation of $1,000 to the Rotary Foundation in
his name.
