The Rotary Club of Prospect wrapped up a momentous 2025 with our annual Christmas party on 10 December. It was a wonderful evening of fellowship and celebration, offering members a chance to reflect on a busy and successful year.
We were delighted to welcome Dr. Damian Mead as our guest speaker. Dr. Mead provided a compelling and insightful presentation on the Brian Burdekin Clinic, highlighting the vital health and support services they provide to some of the most vulnerable members of our community. His talk was a timely reminder of the importance of service, a value that sits at the heart of everything we do.
The evening also featured the highly anticipated announcement of the winners of our annual wine fundraising raffle. A special thank you goes to Arch Boonan for his tireless organisation of this popular fundraiser. The raffle not only adds a bit of excitement to our holiday festivities but also raises essential funds to continue our community work.
A Year of Service and Celebration
As we close the book on 2025, we look back on a year defined by significant achievements, none larger than our club’s 75th Anniversary. Celebrating three-quarters of a century of “Service Above Self” was a proud moment for all past and present members, honoring our deep roots in the Prospect community.
Throughout the year, our members have been active both locally and further afield. In October, we hit the road for the Hawker Drought Muster, showing our solidarity and support for farmers facing tough conditions. We also kept our engines running for mental health awareness with Driving for a Cause: The Blue Tree Project, helping to spark difficult but necessary conversations.
Our commitment to youth and education remained strong, highlighted by our engagement with local schools, including our recent visit to Blackfriars Priory School. On the international stage, we continued our global citizenship by supporting World Polio Day and working to improve digital literacy through our Bridging the Digital Divide in Bhutan initiative.
From the hands-on craft of the Men at Play group to the Walk for Respect, 2025 has been a year of diverse and impactful action.
Thank you to every member for your energy, time, and dedication this year. Your support makes these achievements possible. We wish you all a safe and joyous holiday season and look forward to continuing our work in 2026.
