A Night of Welcome and Inspiration at Rotary Prospect

The Rotary Club of Prospect held its recent meeting on Wednesday, August 27th, at the Lord Melbourne Hotel. The evening included the induction of three new members and a presentation from guest speaker, Hadi Jafari.

We were pleased to welcome Sparsh, Jayne, and Gary to the Rotary Club of Prospect. We look forward to their participation in our upcoming projects and activities.

The evening also provided an opportunity for members to share updates during our 30-second spots. Key discussions included plans for a collaborative community well-being day in Hawker on November 8, 2025, with the Rotary Clubs of Regency Park and Campbelltown. Members also learned about the new digital format for our ‘Prospect Post’ newsletter, designed to increase our engagement with the wider community. Other topics included upcoming promotional events at Bunnings and club administrative matters.

The guest speaker for the evening was Hadi Jafari from the Rotary Club of Regency Park. Hadi spoke about his journey to Australia from Afghanistan four years ago and his experiences as a new arrival. He shared the key decision he made to pursue his education at Thebarton Senior College, framing it as making it “day one” of his new life, rather than deferring his goals to “one day.”

Hadi also detailed his involvement with a Rotaract club at his college. He explained how he helped grow the club from just two members into a larger, more diverse group by organising inclusive events that celebrated different cultures. Now serving as the Youth Director for the Rotary Club of Regency Park, he continues his work within the Rotary community.

The club thanks Hadi for sharing his experiences with us. His presentation offered valuable insights into overcoming challenges and the importance of community engagement. We appreciate his time and look forward to potential collaborations in the future.
