It’s a simple question with a powerful answer: What do Rotarians do best? We help others in need.
This commitment to service was recently highlighted in the July/August 2025 edition of the Rotary Down Under magazine, and we were thrilled to see the incredible work of Adelaide clubs—including our own—put in the spotlight.
Adelaide Clubs Unite for Our Community
The magazine featured an article titled, “Metropolitan Adelaide Rotary Clubs unite for communities in need”, which showcased an inspiring project from back in April. Eleven Rotary clubs from across metropolitan Adelaide joined forces in a major food drive to provide much-needed food and non-perishable goods to Catherine House, an organisation that supports people facing extreme hardship.
It’s a fantastic example of the incredible impact we can have when we work together.
Our Local Impact Recognised
While this city-wide effort is wonderful to see, we were especially proud that the Rotary Club of Prospect received a special mention for our own ongoing local project.
For a long time now, our members have been consistently donating food and essential items to Lutheran Care. These donations go directly to families doing it tough, providing real support where it’s needed most.
This fantastic initiative simply wouldn’t be possible without the tireless dedication of one of our own, Robert Roocke. Every month, Robert generously volunteers his time to collect all our donated goods and personally deliver them to Lutheran Care. His commitment is the engine room of this project.
As our Group 1 Leader, Heidi Unferdorben, acknowledged in the article, projects like these are a huge success and provide tangible benefits to the people in our community who are most vulnerable.
How You Can Get Involved
Helping out is easy, and every little bit counts.
Robert provides a monthly list of items that are most needed by Lutheran Care. You don’t need to provide everything on the list; any donation you can make, big or small, will be gratefully received and make a real difference to a local family.
Please contact us or come to our next meeting to get a copy of the list, or keep an eye on our club bulletin for updates on the most-needed items.
Thank you for your continued generosity and for embodying the Rotary spirit of ‘Service Above Self’.
