We held a productive and forward-thinking meeting on Wednesday, August 13, 2025. Marie Dorrington warmly welcomed members and guided the evening’s discussions.
The central theme of the meeting was the strategic direction of the club’s three core committees: International Projects, Community and Service Projects, and Club Administration. Members had the opportunity to discuss the nature of the club’s contributions, distinguishing between collaborative projects and donations. It was emphasised that all endeavours, whether hands-on projects or financial donations, should be well planned and evaluated to align with Rotary’s core values and Areas of Focus.
A key takeaway for members was the importance of structuring projects for success. To aid this, the principles of setting effective goals were highlighted, ensuring that all club projects should be:
- Specific
- Measurable
- Achievable
- Relevant
- Time-Bound
This framework will be crucial as the club considers taking on a new community project in addition to its international commitments. Regular evaluation and feedback were also stressed as vital for ensuring projects deliver the greatest value and that all members feel a sense of awareness and involvement in the club’s achievements. Marie also introduced a new, non-compulsory minutes and report form, designed to outline good practice for the committees.
Following comprehensive reports from the committee chairs, the meeting concluded on a high note with a lively raffle organised by Denise, who also provided delicious cookies for the prize winners.
