At our recent meeting on November 12, 2025, members of the Rotary Club of Prospect had the privilege of stepping out of our usual venue and into the halls of one of our community’s most historic pillars: Blackfriars Priory School.
We were treated to a guided tour that showcased not only the school’s impressive modern facilities but also the enduring spirit of the Dominican tradition that has shaped young men in Prospect since 1953. It was inspiring to see firsthand how the school’s approach to education – balancing academic rigour with social, emotional, and spiritual growth – creates an environment where students can thrive.
Shared Values: Service and Community
As Rotarians, our motto is “Service Above Self,” and it was heartening to see how deeply this aligns with Blackfriars’ own values. The school is built upon the Four Pillars of Dominican Life: Prayer, Study, Community, and Service.
During our visit, we saw clear evidence of the “Service” and “Community” pillars in action. Whether through their vibrant international student program – which we have heard about in previous meetings – or their active social justice initiatives, Blackfriars is clearly dedicated to looking outward and making a difference. This shared commitment to fostering a better community forms a natural bond between our club and the school.
Looking Ahead
We would like to extend a sincere thank you to the Blackfriars’ team, who welcomed us so warmly and shared their insights into the future of their school. Strong local partnerships are the backbone of a vibrant community, and we look forward to continuing our relationship with Blackfriars Priory School long into the future.
